Bus transportation service, whether in the urban, rural or provincial milieu, is there to ensure quality of life to the citizens of Québec…A good public transportation system can contribute to battling the exodus of populations to the big cities to the detriment of small municipalities, and meet the growing needs of an aging population.

In 2006, the ministère des Transports published the Québec Policy Respecting Public Transit. The assistance programs linked to the policy will give more support to the efforts of local and regional decision-makers in offering their citizens services that facilitate mobility. In the spring of 2008, the Fédération Québécoise des Municipalités , in collaboration with the Association des propriétaires d'autobus du Québec (APAQ) and the Association des transport collectifs ruraux du Québec (ATCRQ) held the first conference on public transit in the rural milieu. This productive partnership will definitely promote the development and better integration of the different public transit networks.
