The bus system is the best way for people with reduced mobility to get around, with its network of wheelchair-accessible terminals, Quebec Intercity Coach to Accompany Card and adapted vehicles at your service throughout the Province of Quebec.

Who is adapted transit for?

It is for people with one or more physical and/or cognitive disabilities that prevent them from using public transportation.

Get in touch with your municipality’s adapted transport service to get the application form, which will tell you what information you need to provide.

How can you find adapted transit in Québec?

Espacebus.ca has two options to make it easier.

  1. Go to the section “Maps ”. Then you need only to select your region to get the information you need.  
  2. Contact your local services in your area.

What are the conditions for using adapted transport in my area?

Organizations offering adapted transport have their own operating rules, especially in terms of pre-booking time and pricing. The simplest idea is to contact them directly to plan your trip. 

Where can I find information on services for people with disabilities?

The Office des personnes handicapées du Québec (OPHQ) works to ensure the quality of life and social integration for people with disabilities. It oversees ongoing efforts to improve opportunities and services for people with disabilities. It also co-ordinates delivery of services to people with disabilities and their families. 

Kéroul is an organization devoted to making tourism and culture available to people with reduced mobility. It works together with governments and businesses to increase accessibility. Kéroul has put together a tourist directory called Le Québec accessible, which assesses some 1,000 establishments and points of interest in Québec in terms of Kéroul’s accessibility criteria.

Adapted transport organizations can also help. Most adapted transport organizations are members of two associations: the Alliance des Services de Transport Adapté du Québec (ASTAQ) and the Regroupement des Organismes de Transport Adapté du Québec (ROTAQ) -

Is there an organization representing adapted transport users?

Yes, the Alliance des Regroupements des Usagers du Transport Adapté du Québec (ARUTAQ). Its mission is to support user groups, promote the development and improvement of adapted transport services and maintain links between the various stakeholders in the field. It also makes sure that peoples’ rights to adequate and safe services are respected. 

Which establishments offer services to people with disabilities?

Many establishments are working for people with physical or cognitive disabilities. For tourism and culture check out the Kéroul website or purchase its directory.
