Quebec Intercity Coach to Accompany Card

The pass gives free passage to anyone accompanying a person with disabilities or reduced mobility anywhere in the Québec inter-city bus network, without extra fees or complicated procedures. 

The passes are available for anyone aged 8 and over who has physical or cognitive difficulties and needs assistance for inter-city travel. 

Inter-city bus transit is accessible for persons with physical or cognitive difficulties, but with certain limitations, in particular some personal, intimate needs that the transporters cannot meet. In such cases you need a companion to assist you. Personal aides must be 14 or older and be able to meet your needs without the help of transporters, terminal staff or service centre staff, and without doing the work such staff usually does. 

• You are unable to move around independently on inter-city bus trips; 
• You cannot keep track of place and time during an entire trip;  
• You are unable to communicate in words or gestures;  
• You are unable to take care of your own safety;  
• You cannot control behaviours that could be unsafe for yourself or other passengers. 
  

 

As a person with disabilities holding a Québec Intercity Coach to Accompany Card, you undertake to use it honestly and only for your real needs. No one else may use your pass. 

Fill in the form and, if necessary, confirm the limitations and the “permanent” need for a Accompany Card when you take inter-city transportation. Send the completed form with your photograph to the Association des propriétaires d'autobus du Québec (APAQ), where your eligibility will be assessed and a pass issued within 4 weeks. If you are turned down you will be informed of the decision and you will have 30 days to request a revision by the APAQ.

Yes, there is no charge for the Québec Intercity Coach to Accompany Card. The Association des propriétaires d'autobus du Québec, the Office des personnes handicapées du Québec, the ministère des Transports du Québec and inter-city transporter members fund the program. It is a product they offer to make your inter-city bus travel easier. 

Each pass is valid for 5 years. The expiry date is printed on it. Before it expires a renewal request will be sent to the address we have for you on file. As soon as you reply the pass will be automatically renewed. If you do not reply you will have to make a new application.
